Illegal Immigrant Bill Makes Progress

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery AL – The House Judiciary Committee has approved two bills aimed at curbing the flow of illegal aliens into Alabama. The bill to make it a felony for an employer to knowingly hire an illegal alien. It also makes it a felony for an illegal resident to give false information to get a job. The committee also approved legislation to require that a person provide proof of U.S. citizenship or proof that he or she is in the country legally to apply for public assistance. The package of bills now goes to the full House for consideration.
