Montgomery, AL – The U-S Justice Department is suing Alabama. It says there isn't enough time between the June sixth party primaries and the June 27th runoffs for military personnel overseas to receive and return their ballots. Attorney General Troy King and Secretary of State Nancy Worley have recommended a bill that would delay the date of the runoff. The current proposal would move the date from June 27th to July 18th. But even though the state is being sued, the House has delayed voting on the proposal. House members say they want more time to study a different plan for giving military personnel serving overseas an opportunity to have their votes counted.
