Montgomery, AL – The Alabama House has approved a bill that would resolve a voting problem involving Alabama's overseas military personnel. There currently is not enough time between the June 6th primary and the June 27th party runoffs for overseas soldiers to receive their ballots, vote and return them. The bill approved yesterday allows them to cast their runoff ballot at the same time they vote on June 6th. The change comes after a legal threat from the US Justice Department. A Senate committee has approved a different version of the bill that instead changes the runoff date. Lawmakers say a final version still needs to be worked out.
