Montgomery, AL – Governor Bob Riley spent the weekend in Iraq speaking with soldiers from Alabama and with Iraqi leaders. He met with members of the Alabama National Guard's 690th Chemical Company. The unit has 135 members and is based in Mobile. They mobilized last October. The governor says the soldiers are "positive and very upbeat." He joined two other governors and six members of Congress who also met with high level Iraqi officials. The group encouraged them to form a national unity government. Riley is expected to be back in Montgomery sometime today.
