Montgomery, AL – The deadly force bill will be back on the state legislature's agenda today. The House could give it final approval. It would broaden the circumstances in which Alabamians can kill someone to protect themselves or their property. However, the bill requires the person to actually feel threatened before using deadly force against another person. Several African American lawmakers opposed the bill, saying it would enable a homeowner to shoot anyone for almost any reason, as long as the homeowner says he or she felt threatened at the time.
