Gulf Shores, AL – A 17-year-old Gulf Shores High School student will remain in custody after authorities accused him of planning to attack people at his school on next month's seventh anniversary of the slayings at Columbine High School in Colorado. Joseph Scott Meredith is accused of helping a 15-year-old student plan the attack. Prosecutors say they have evidence that Meredith also wanted to kill a family member. They say much of the evidence they have was gathered from the student's computer hard drives. Meredith is now in juvenile detention. The other student is under house arrest. Both were arrested Friday and charged with conspiracy to commit murder, a Class A felony. Meredith's attorney says the alleged plots were actually only movie scripts written by his client, and were never intended to be carried out.
