Birmingham, AL – The last six weeks have been a moratorium, of sorts, for hundreds of Alagasco customers. That's how long the company promised not to disconnect customers who couldn't pay their natural gas bills. But the moratorium ends Friday, and there are no plans right now to extend it. Alagasco joined with the Community Action Association of Alabama last month to stop any imminent disconnections. An Alagasco spokeswoman says the utility isn't planning to continue the effort, but she said another program might start after the company meets with community agencies next month.
