Mercedes-Benz Places Workers in Temp Positions

By Alabama Public Radio

Vance, AL – The president and C-E-O of Mercedes-Benz U-S International says about 100 employees are being reassigned to temporary positions. Bill Taylor says the workers are not being demoted, and they are not losing any pay. Taylor also says the current reassignments at the plant in Vance are not related to a previous round of job cuts announced by Mercedes' parent company -- DaimlerChrysler A-G. The reassigned employees are being placed on teams that are responsible for improving efficiency, safety and quality at the plant and in its vehicles.
