Haleyville, AL – Victims of the recent severe weather in northwest Alabama are getting some aid from the American Red Cross. At least 22 small tornadoes touched down Friday night, damaging numerous homes, businesses and schools. The Red Cross has opened a temporary service headquarters at the Haleyville Conference Center -- known locally as the old elementary school. Caseworkers estimate more than 100 households are in need of services. The service facility will be open from 9 a-m until 4 p-m Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
