Former JeffCo Sewer Director Testifies

By Alabama Public Radio

Birmingham, AL – Harry Chandler testified Thursday during the federal bribery and conspiracy trial of former Jefferson County Commissioner Chris McNair. Chandler is the former director of the Jefferson County sewer system. He pleaded guilty last year to conspiracy to commit bribery. Chandler told the jury he received lunches, golf trips, football tickets -- even cash -- from contractors who worked on the sewer system upgrade. McNair directed Jefferson County's sewer rehab and expansion project. He and eight other people are on trial for the bribery scandal.
