Memphis TN – Authorities in Memphis now say the death of former Alabama football booster Logan Young was an accident ... not a homicide. Young was found dead at his home in that city on Tuesday. Police initially described Young's death as a bloody slaying after a fierce struggle. But at a news conference yesterday, Memphis Police Director Larry Godwin said Young fell in his house, hit his head on a metal stair railing and died from that injury. He also says earlier comments made and circulated about the case "were just plain wrong". Investigators now believe the blood that appeared in several rooms of the house came as Young was attempting to stop his bleeding and call for help. Young was convicted last year of bribing a high school football coach to steer a top recruit to Alabama. He had been allowed to remain free pending his appeal.
