Montgomery, AL – U-S District Judge Mark Fuller will allow prosecutors to present testimony concerning former lobbyist and landfill developer Lanny Young. Prosecutors say Young gave Paul Hamrick 46-thousand dollars when Hamrick was a top aide to former Governor Don Siegelman. Defense attorneys said the payments were not illegal because Hamrick never took a specific official act in return for the money. Judge Fuller, though, rejected that argument. Hamrick, Siegelman, former HealthSouth C-E-O Richard Scrushy and former state Transportation Director Mack Roberts face government corruption charges. Their trial is scheduled to begin May first.
