Montgomery AL – 12 jurors and six alternates have been selected for the government corruption trial of former Governor Don Siegelman, two of his former aides, and former HealthSouth C-E-O Richard Scrushy. Both defense and prosecution attorneys say they are happy with the jury, which they say is equally balanced between men and women, and whites and blacks. The jurors report to the federal courthouse in Montgomery this morning for instructions. Opening statements begin on May first. More than 70 potential jurors were questioned during the selection process.
