Montgomery, AL – The Judicial Inquiry Commission has rejected a complaint against state Supreme Court Justice Tom Parker. The complaint was filed by Tuscaloosa attorney Joel Sogol. It accused Parker of violating the standards of conduct for Alabama judges by writing a newspaper commentary critical of his fellow justices. Sogol says the commission found that Parker's remarks were protected by a 2002 US Supreme Court ruling that struck down speech restrictions on judicial candidates.
