Hispanics Remain at Home on Monday

By Alabama Public Radio

Alabama – Many Hispanics in Alabama shut down their businesses, stayed home from work and kept their children home from school Monday, joining a national immigration protest. With a Spanish-speaking population the Census Bureau estimates at 98-thousand-388 in Alabama, participants say they wanted to show the economic power of immigrants who have moved to the state in recent years.
