Washington DC – Alabama has been sued again by the U-S Justice Department. This time, Justice officials say Alabama missed the deadline for creating a statewide computerized database of voters for this year's elections. The suit asks a judge to require Alabama to develop a plan within 30 days to get into compliance with federal law and make sure the state has accurate voter rolls for this year's elections. It's the second time the Justice Department sued the state this year over election issues. The first suit was related to Alabama's failure to allow enough time to ship and receive runoff ballots to overseas military personnel. The Legislature avoided that lawsuit by passing a law to delay the runoff until July 18th.
