Bailey Continues Testimony in Corruption Trial

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – A government witness testified again Wednesday that 500-thousand dollars in political donations wasn't reported properly. Nick Bailey said the donations were arranged by former HealthSouth C-E-O Richard Scrushy and went to a state lottery campaign. When asked why former Governor Don Siegelman did not report the donations to the Alabama secretary of state's office, Bailey said he was told Scrushy didn't want his wife to know he was supporting the Alabama Education Lottery. Siegelman says Bailey has lied about doing favors in exchange for campaign contributions and other considerations. Bailey has already pleaded guilty in the case and awaits sentencing.
