Montgomery, AL – Governor Bob Riley says Alabama is among the states leading the nation in the number of enrollments in the new Medicare drug plan. About three-fourths of the state's 750-thousand eligible seniors have signed up so far. U-S Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Michael Leavitt was in Montgomery Tuesday promoting the plan. He encouraged the state's senior citizens to sign up by Monday. If they don't, they could pay higher premiums later. Residents can sign up on the phone. The number is 1-800-MEDICARE.
