Oakman AL – For the 15th time since February, a church in a rural area of Alabama has burned. Thirteen of those previous fires have been ruled arson, including nine in which three men face state and federal arson charges. The latest fire happened early this morning, and destroyed Tubbs Church of Christ in the Oakman community of Walker County. The state fire marshal's office says investigators are trying to determine if the fire was intentionally set. Before the fire in Oakman, the most recent church fire happened April fourth in Talladega County, where Blackberry Lane Community Church was destroyed by arson.
