Judge Dismisses Suit Against Attorney General

By Alabama Public Radio

Mobile, AL – A Mobile County judge has dismissed a civil lawsuit against Attorney General Troy King. It was filed by his opponent in the June sixth Republican Primary. Circuit Judge James Wood declined Friday to issue a temporary restraining order sought by Mark Montiel. Montiel is a former appeals court judge whose lawsuit claims King received illegal corporate campaign contributions that were funneled through a political action committee. The lawsuit had asked the judge to stop King from spending money from the challenged campaign contributions. King's attorney, Matt McDonald, described Montiel's lawsuit as "nonsense" at a hearing before the judge.
