Young Testifies in Corruption Case

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – Lanny Young told a jury Tuesday that he consistently provided money, plane rides and free meals and drinks to former Governor Don Siegelman and two of his aides. In exchange, Young says he got government favors. Young is a landfill developer and lobbyist who has already pleaded guilty to bribing a judge in another case. He says he provided thousands of dollars worth of campaign items for Siegelman during his campaign for lieutenant governor in 1994, and he says the arrangement continued when Siegelman was elected governor in 1998. Young says he told Siegelman and his aides that he expected favors in return for the gifts.
