Senate Passes Sessions' Immigration Bill

By Alabama Public Radio

Washington, DC – The U-S Senate has passed a measure that would add more fencing along the Mexican border. U-S Senator Jeff Sessions sponsors a bill that would build 370 miles of triple-layered fencing and 500 miles of vehicle barriers along the border. Senator Richard Shelby also supported the measure, which passed 83-to-16. Both senators also favored an amendment that would have prevented illegal immigrants from getting an eventual chance at citizenship. But that measure was defeated on a 66-to-33 vote.
