Former Poarch Creek Chairman Has Died

Atmore, AL – The Poarch Band of Creek Indians lost one of its leaders Thursday. Fred McGhee died at Spring Hill Memorial Hospital in Mobile. He was 56 years old. McGhee served two terms as Tribal Chairman and was described as a great visionary. A Poarch Creek Tribal spokeswoman says McGhee had a history of heart disease, but the exact cause of death is not immediately known. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and are being handled by Atmore Memorial Chapel.
