Another Lobbyist Testifies in Corruption Trial

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – Lobbyist Claire Austin used to work with fellow lobbyist and landfill developer Lanny Young. She testified Tuesday that Young asked her to use her influence in the state attorney general's office to stop a Medicaid fraud investigation. Austin was a campaign aide to former Attorney General Bill Pryor. She says Young told her former Governor Don Siegelman's office wanted the investigation stopped. Austin and Young were partners in a Montgomery lobbying firm from 1999-to-2001. She says working with Young was a big mistake.
