Mobile, AL – Governor Bob Riley says he'll talk to ConocoPhillips before deciding what to do about the company's plans for a liquefied natural gas terminal. ConocoPhillips wants to build it in the Gulf of Mexico, about 11 miles south of Dauphin Island. The governor attended a public hearing on the proposal Wednesday in Mobile. Several representatives of conservation and environmental groups oppose the project, saying it would damage marine life. The facility would use an open loop system which would require 136 to 177 million gallons of sea water per day. A ConocoPhillips spokesman says the company's meeting with the governor is expected in a couple of weeks.
