Montgomery, AL – Former Governor Don Siegelman says toll bridge developer Jim Allen is a liar. Allen testified Thursday during the government corruption case against Siegelman and three others. Allen says Siegelman promised him he could pick the state's next transportation director if he made a 40-thousand dollar campaign contribution. That was back in 1998, and Allen says he eventually gave the money. The transportation director's job then went to Mack Roberts, who was working for Allen at the time and had been transportation director under former Governor Jim Folsom, Junior. Roberts also faces charges in the case, along with former Siegelman chief of staff Paul Hamrick and former HealthSouth C-E-O Richard Scrushy.
