Huntsville, AL – Expect some scattered showers and thunderstorms in north Alabama Tuesday afternoon and evening. The National Weather Service says some storms could become strong with wind gusts of 40 miles per hour or greater. Hail up to half an inch in diameter also will be possible. Forecasters say the storms are expected to move slowly and heavy downpours could cause localized flooding in low or poorly drained areas. Frequent lightning will also accompany the storms. The weather is not expected to become severe in central and south Alabama.
