Two Wounded in Courthouse Shooting

By Alabama Public Radio

Jackson County AL – A man remains jailed and two people in critical condition following a shooting Thursday on the lawn of the Jackson County courthouse. John Christopher Lee is accused of shooting Robert Lee Hunter and Hunter's mother, Debra Parker. The shooting occurred following a court hearing regarding a dispute between Hunter and his wife over their children. Lee is the stepfather of the children's mother. He was subdued by an off-duty state marine officer, who knocked the gun from Lee's hands as he was trying to chase Hunter back into the courthouse. Lee remains in custody on a 200-thousand dollar bond.
