Montgomery AL – Two of the four Magistrate Judges on the US District Court in Montgomery have resigned. US Magistrates Deloris R. Boyd and Vanzetta Penn McPherson are stepping down. McPherson has served the federal bench since 1992. She says she will resign effective October 31st, but did not say why. Boyd was appointed to the court in 2001. She says she plans to step down December 31st to pursue other opportunities. The process to replace them begins with the appointment of a merit selection committee. That committee will draw up a list of potential candidates.
