Alabama-based Soldiers Killed in Iraq

By Alabama Public Radio

Fort Rucker, AL – Two soldiers who were based at Fort Rucker were killed in Iraq, and three other soldiers were injured. Fort Rucker Deputy Public Affairs Officer Charles Widener says the soldiers died yesterday in what he calls an "indirect fire attack." He says Fort Rucker officials learned of the deaths last night, but the Army will not release their names publicly. The Department of Defense does not release the names of soldiers killed in the war until relatives are notified. Widener also says he does not yet know the soldiers' ranks or hometowns, but he says the soldiers were assigned to the B Company, 46th Engineer Battalion. That group went to Iraq in October.
