Washington, DC – Alabama and Florida will get no relief from the U-S Supreme Court right now. It declined to hear a case concerning a water sharing disagreement with Georgia. Alabama and Florida had appealed a ruling from the Eleventh U-S Circuit Court of Appeals. That court allowed Atlanta to take more water from Lake Lanier and the Chattahoochee River. That reversed earlier decisions by an Alabama federal district court, which blocked Atlanta from getting the extra water. Georgia and Atlanta officials say the city needs the extra water to accommodate growth.
