National Transportation Meeting Held in Birmingham

By Alabama Public Radio

Birmingham AL – Transportation officials from across the country met in Birmingham this week ... one of the topics discussed was a recurring problem with trucks carrying and then dropping their loads of giant steel coils on the roadway.
It's happened in Tuscaloosa, and twice recently at a major interchange in Birmingham. On Thursday, a coil fell and knocked eight holes in the interstate. Officials at the conference also discussed new requirements for hauling and registration. The main topics of the conference were rail safety and disaster relief. You can find out more about those issues online at ... n-a-r-u-c ... dot ... ORG ... slash ... associations.
