Sheriff Candidate Ends Vote Challenge

By Alabama Public Radio

Dothan, AL – The Democratic primary race for the Houston County sheriff's office is over. Challenger Eddie Ingram is conceding the race more than a week after the election. He lost by a dozen votes to incumbent Sheriff Lamar Glover. County officials initially believed they would have to conduct an automatic recount, and they told Ingram he would have to pay for it. Ingram says he started collecting donations, but he says that and other roadblocks led him to concede the race. The Republican Party did not have a sheriff's candidate because the only one who qualified died last month from natural causes.
