Ingram Still GOP Candidate

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery AL – State Republican officials say there is no truth to rumors that the G-O-P will replace its nominee for state Senate District 13 with defeated Democratic incumbent Gerald Dial. Dial served 32 years in the Legislature before losing the Democratic primary to Randolph County Circuit Clerk Kim Benefield. Lanett attorney Jim Ingram had no opposition in the Republican primary for the District 13 Senate seat, but G-O-P Chairman Twinkle Andress Cavanaugh says the rumor became so widespread that he would be replaced, that she called Ingram to assure him the talk was only talk. Dial has also heard the rumors, but says there are NO such plans.
