Montgomery AL – The jury in former Governor Don Siegelman's government corruption trial have ended deliberations for the weekend. Siegelman and three others are accused of exchanging political favors for campaign contributions. Earlier today, jurors had to asked federal judge Mark Fuller if "a campaign contribution constituted a thing of value for Siegelman?" That question pertains to Count Three, which says Siegelman bribed former HealthSouth chairman Richard Scrushy by promising him a seat on a hospital regulatory board in exchange for 500-thousand dollars in campaign contributions. Judge Fuller told jurors ``a campaign contribution may be a thing of value,'' but left the final determination up to the jurors. The question could be one of several the jury has as it tries to sift through the 34-count indictment and the testimony of more than 75 witnesses. Deliberations resume Monday morning.
