Lawsuit Claims Sexual Assault

By Alabama Public Radio

Tuscaloosa, AL – Lawsuits that have been filed in Tuscaloosa Circuit Court say two mentally retarded men at the William D. Partlow Development Center were sexually assaulted by other male residents. The suit says the first assault happened in 2004, the second in 2005. Montgomery attorney Tommy James is representing both alleged victims. James filed two $5 million lawsuits Tuesday against the state Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation, which operates the Tuscaloosa center.
