Atlanta GA – Alabama is challenging a lawsuit filed by Georgia that seeks to restrict the amount of water the U-S Army Corps of Engineers can drain from reservoirs along the Chattahoochee River. State officials hope to block the restraining order that was sought after it was discovered a faulty gauge had allowed 22 billion extra gallons of water to be drained from Lake Lanier ... a major reservoir for Atlanta. Alabama has also asked the Northern District of Georgia court to move proceedings to northern Alabama, where there's already a case involving the Corps' management of the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint River basin. Florida, Georgia and Alabama have at odds over how to share water in the basin for the past 15 years.
