Birmingham AL – Yet another community is asking residents to use less water due to the ongoing dry conditions. The Birmingham Water Works Board says there is not an emergency, but it has issued a drought advisory because of the low rainfall and increased water use in the area. The utility estimates customers are using 30 million gallons a day for outdoor watering. The voluntary restrictions simply asks customers to keep conservation in mind and not waste water. Since May, the Birmingham area has received a little more than three inches of rain. It was expecting about 9-inches of rainfall.
