Siegelman Jury Gets Pep Talk After Five Days

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – A federal judge gave a pep talk to jurors Wednesday in the government corruption trial of former Governor Don Siegelman and three others.

The jurors are expected to begin their sixth day of deliberations Thursday.

Federal Judge Mark Fuller encouraged the jurors to continue working to reach verdicts after 32 days of testimony where prosecutors claim government favors were traded for campaign donations and gifts during Siegelman's terms as lieutenant governor and governor.

Fuller says the jury is not deadlocked, but he did want to encourage jurors to continue working and to remind them they could return a partial verdict.
