Montgomery, AL – More jury deliberations are expected Monday in the government corruption case against former Governor Don Siegelman and three others.
Jurors had said they were deadlocked. But Montgomery Federal Judge Mark Fuller told them to try again Monday to reach a verdict on the 34-count case against Siegelman, two of his former Cabinet members and former HealthSouth CEO Richard Scrushy.
Charges against Siegelman include racketeering, bribery and obstruction of justice. Scrushy is charged with bribery and mail fraud.
Prosecutors claim government favors were traded for campaign donations and gifts while Siegelman was lieutenant governor and governor from 1995 until 2003.
