Tuscaloosa AL – Residents in Tuscaloosa County will enjoy a holiday from state AND local sales taxes in August. The holiday is meant to ease the burden of back-to-school costs. Families will not pay sales tax on items like clothing, computers, books and other basic supplies. The state has already waived its 4-percent state sales tax ... and the Tuscaloosa and Northport City Councils and the County Commission recently agreed to also suspend their local sales taxes. The holiday will be held statewide August 4th through the 6th.
