Forestry Officials Urge Fireworks Caution

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery AL –
With the widespread dry conditions in mind, the Alabama Forestry Commission has issued a safety warning, urging Alabamians to use caution before shooting any July 4th fireworks. The "Red Flag Warning,'' says people should be careful with fire, but it does not ban burning. A forestry official says the number of fires is above average so far this year .... 398 fires have burned more than 5-thousand 200 acres this month alone. Southwest and northeast Alabama are particularly prone to wildfire.
