Birmingham AL – Alabama, Georgia and Florida have reached an interim water sharing agreement for a river basin they share. The three states have been at odds over a way to supply enough water to various interests ... ranging from economic to environmental ... along the Apalachicola-Chatahoochee-Flint river basin. The states were under a federal court order to find a solution. On Friday, they announced a deal that creates a storage pool officials in Florida can tap to ensure endangered aquatic wildlife in Apalachicola Bay is getting enough fresh water. The deal expires July 24th, but water officials in all the states say they are optimistic the agreement is a sign a long-term solution can be negotiated.
