Water-Related Fatalities Reported

Alabama – There were some safety problems on some Alabama waterways over the Fourth of July holiday. Lowndes County authorities say a six-year-old boy drowned in a creek after falling in. At Lake Jordan, a man died after a pontoon boat in which he and seven other were riding was struck by an 18-foot power boat. A total of eight other people were injured. In Macon County, two fishermen drowned after their boat capsized on a private pond. The holiday weekend also included the death of an Ohio teenager who was killed after attempting to jump from a 50-foot cliff at Lake Martin. The cliff has been linked to three injuries or fatalities in the past three weeks. Two teenagers were also injured trying to jump from a cliff at DeSoto Falls Park.
