Montgomery, AL – More than two-thirds of the states -- including Alabama -- are having immense difficulty with the No Child Left Behind Act. Quite simply, they're failing to achieve better student test scores, and they face losing money unless there are quick improvements. The federal Education Department reports 34 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico are having major problems with the tests that were supposed to be in place during the previous school year. If they can't make the necessary adjustments, the states face losing thousands -- even hundreds of thousands -- of dollars they receive to administer the No Child Left Behind law. State report cards were released today.
