Fairhope AL – One of the first Alabama Army National Guard units sent to Iraq ... the 11-65th Military Police Company from Fairhope and Brewton ... has been honored with the Presidential Unit Citation and the Valorous Unit Award. The citation is awarded to units for heroism in war. The 11-65th has served more time in Iraq that any other Alabama Army National Guard unit deployed since early 2003. The Presidential Unit Citation was awarded over the weekend in a ceremony at Fairhope High School. It is the highest unit award presented in the U-S Armed Forces.
