Movie Industry Comes to Butler County

By Alabama Public Radio

Greenville AL –
Hollywood is coming to Butler County this fall ... the city of Greenville and other surrounding locations will be used to shoot a new movie called ``Honey Dripper.'' The movie is set in the 1950s, and will feature actor Danny Glover who will play a blues musician. Officials in Greenville say they expect to see a big boost to the local economy, especially in the hotel sector. That will also bring local governments an increase in lodging tax revenues. Carol Lee, who works with the city's Chamber of Commerce, says film executives were "wined and dined" during the recruitment effort. Production on "Honey Dripper" is scheduled to begin on September 27th.
