By Alabama Public Radio

Dothan, AL – The 186th Engineering Company of Dothan is preparing to spend more than a year on active duty. The 160 National Guard members will be deployed Wednesday for a 14- to 15-month mission overseas. The group could possibly serve in Iraq. Unit commander Captain Clay Strickland says the group has been training in Dothan and Eglin Air Force Base in Florida for the last six months to prepare. The unit will report to Fort McCoy, Wisconsin for another two months of training before going overseas. A public deployment ceremony will be held at seven o'clock Wednesday morning at the Farm Center in Dothan.
