Opelika AL – Hundreds of workers at Opelika's Michelin / BF Goodrich tire factory may be losing their jobs. Company officials have reportedly told employees that up to 40 percent workforce cut could be made ... that would put 540 people out of work. The factory currently employs about 13-hundred and 60 people. Some jobs will likely be eliminated through retirements and attrition. Michelin/BF Goodrich is also closing its factory in Ontario, Canada on July 22nd. Company officials say they are responding to a shrinking but competitive tire market.
