Tuscaloosa County AL – The winner of last month's Republican primary for the Place 3 civil appeals court race got a temporary boost at the ballot box of around 30-thousand votes ... nearly twice the amount of total ballots cast. Alabama Republican Party Executive Director Tim Howe says the error has been reported to the Alabama Secretary of State's office and occurred when party officials added a provisional vote to Thomas' vote total in Tuscaloosa County. Provisional votes are those in which the person's identity had to be verified before it was counted. The overcount had no affect on the outcome where Autauga County District Judge Phillip Wood defeated Terri Willingham Thomas, a district and juvenile court judge in Cullman County.
